How is the Internet originally formed? who created the internet?is it possible to start up an internet company

Written by seocraze on Feb 7th, 2010 | Filed under: Internet Marketing

Sometimes I always wondered why some internet service providers can offer more bandwidth than others. Secondly, is how they classify each types of connections, and what method was used. The following types of internet connection are following: cable modem, telephone, electrical socket or plug outlet, T3, T1, satelite, and DSL. Therefore, I am wondering what marketing strategies are used or needed. Lastly, I am extremely interested in learning what aspects were used in creating this extraordinary product and how did they make this product convenent to people all over the world! In addition, is it possible start up my own internet company, which would make me an internet service provider?

  1. The Internet started as a small network linking the the University of California, Los Angeles and the Stanford Research Institute on 29 November 1969. By 5 December 1969, a 4-node network was connected by adding the University of Utah and the University of California, Santa Barbara. Building on ideas developed in ALOHAnet, the ARPANET started in 1972 and was growing rapidly, by 1981 the number of hosts had grown to 213, with a new host being added approximately every twenty days.
ARPANET became the technical core of what would become the Internet, and a primary tool in developing the technologies used. ARPANET development was centered around the Request for Comments (RFC) process, still used today for proposing and distributing Internet Protocols and Systems. RFC 1, entitled "Host Software", was written by Steve Crocker from the University of California, Los Angeles, and published on April 7, 1969. These early years were documented in the 1972 film Computer Networks: The Heralds of Resource Sharing.

  2. Bob Dole invented the internet, lol.

  3. The internet began as a US military/government project (funded) but was developed also by universities and other major organizations for fast and secure digital communication

No one has control of it. No one can tell you that you cant create an internet company or service.

All you have to do to provide a service is BE CONNECTED to it.

  4. The internet started as a means that universities could share research across the country, it was created by several proffesors in the 1960’s (Al Gore was not one of them :P ).

  5. Oh good hell do I have to answer this? Have you been in a cave for 20 years?

We all know Al Gore created the internet, just ask him.

  6. Your question cannot be easily answered, but I suggest you start by looking into the history of the Internet. It was originally a DARPA project that turned into what it is today. You can become an ISP, but that would entail mostly brokering bandwidth. Its a matter of allocation of available bandwidth and what you can afford. If you want to truly become an ISP i also recommend looking into BPL (Broadband over power lines) as this is the untapped market. Cant say it will go anywhere, but it has promise.
Also look into getting broadband to the currently unserviceable (those in the boonies). Air cards can work for them but they are not cheap like DSL.

  7. To get a detailed, concise answer to your question, I’d recommend going to Wikipedia. Look up "Arpanet" and then follow their other references. In about 10 minutes you will have a richer understanding than any of these answers can provide you. Happy reading.

And, btw, it’s best to separate your questions out, when they are so far ranging and unrelated. Marketing is a business consideration. How the Internet originally formed is a history question. Connection classification is a telecommunications question. And, the web is NOT a product. It’s a service. What we use on the web are the products.

Railroads failed to see the rise of the automobile because they did not understand that they were in the transportation business – they thought they were in the railroad business.
